TVADA AUTUMN 2008 ANTIQUES & ART FAIR

The Thames Valley Antiques Dealers’ Association is again holding its much-loved autumn fair at Radley College near Oxford from 24th to 26th October.

This year the event will have an interior design theme, furniture dealers will be encouraged to create room settings on their stands; fabrics, curtain making services and advice on colour schemes will be available. A large quantity of furnishing fabrics have been donated for the benefit of the Helen & Douglas House Children’s & Young Persons’ Hospice in Oxford and will be on sale at £2 per metre.

TVADA are hoping to raise further funds for the hospice by employing an entertainer to hold a children’s Circus Workshop each day; visiting children will be able to learn a variety of skills including tight rope walking; uni-cycling and juggling, donations made by their parents will be given to the hospice.

RYCOTEWOOD FURNITURE CENTRE SUMMER SHOW

Why not come along to their Summer Show which showcases some of the students fabulous work.

The centre is situated at Oxford & Cherwell Valley College City Campus.
Rycote have offered training since the 1930s and their current facilities include professionally equipped workshops, design studios and ICT facilities.
They provide a diverse range of courses, ranging from an Apprenticieship Diploma through to the De Montfort University validated BA (Hons) Furniture Design.

NEW TVADA MEMBERS

TVADA are delighted to welcome two new members to the association this month. The well known Witney dealer W R Harvey and acclaimed restorer and dealer James Broughton.

W R Harvey & Co (Antiques) Ltd have for over half a century been in the business of antique dealing, specialising in fine English furniture dating from the reigns of Charles 11 through to George 1V, all of which is beautifully displayed within their authentically decorated showrooms in Corn Street, Witney, Oxfordshire.

James Broughton provides a complete restoration and conservation service to antique dealers, country houses and private clients. With over 25 years experience, all work is carried out sympathetically to a high standard, maintaining the patination and integrity of the antique furniture. He restores furniture of all styles, periods and woods. A particular speciality being walnut from the late 17th century and early 18th century.
